Mango Sunset Bed & Breakfast Inn

is just ten minutes (five miles) from Kona International Airport and Kona Town at 2,100 feet above the Kona coastline on the slopes of the Hualalai Volcano. Our guests love our location not only for the breathtaking view, but also for the cooler than Kona temperatures and less rain than to the South of us. We have the perfect climate year-round for a wonderful Hawaiian vacation...and for growing 100% Certified Organic Kona Coffee here at Lyman Kona Coffee Farms where our Bed & Breakfast Inn is located. "Coffee Tour" videos

For a fee, we give Farm Tours of our Certified Organic Kona Coffee Estate. Those include the history of coffee, coffee growing and processing, including roasting. There are 800 small Kona Coffee farms, but only 80 are certified "Estates" (single Farm origin, from "seed to cup"). We have won the Kona Coffee Council silver or gold medals for five years. Tours conducted by Dr. Eckert, owner/operator. MAKE A TOUR RESERVATION.

Innkeepers Hans and Marsha Eckert

Hans, Marsha & Karen at Lyman Kona Coffee FarmsInvited by the King of Hawaii, the missionaries David and Sarah Lyman arrived from Boston on the Big Island - in 1832. They founded and operated a school, a church and they built the first wooden house on the Big Island. Our daughter Karen Johanna Lyman Eckert (now 11) is their sixths generation grand daughter. Lyman Farms is named to honor Marsha's family. For more information, or to plan a visit to The Lyman House and Museum website.

Marsha is an active developer of very complex financial computer software with clients across America. Hans is retired from University teaching and administration. After living in Los Angeles, New York or Europe for decades, we came to Hawaii, bought eight acres of jungle and built our Bed and Breakfast Inn and Lyman Kona Coffee Farms "from scratch". As hosts, we live on the premises (in our own house) with our daughter Karen (the "farm manager"), our sweey puppy Abby, and our cats Inki and Melissa (all strictly "out door").

Map & Directions

We roast our Certified Organic Coffee always fresh for our guests and customers.

Please print the directions and bring them with you. We are very easy to find just off Highway 190 near mile marker #33, Mauka, meaning Mountain side. From Kona International Airport follow the signs as you exit the airport property to Highway 19 then turn RIGHT (SOUTH toward Kona). Within half a mile you will make a LEFT (EAST) at the first traffic light at Ka'iminani Drive. Go up the hill a few miles to the end of Ka'iminani and you will find Highway 190. Turn LEFT (NORTH) and go 0.3 mile to a large green mailbox on your right with our number on it 73-4261.

At this point you will notice two parallel driveways right next to each other and ours is the one on the LEFT (Northern most, the one under our large brown BnB Inn sign). Follow it all the way up. Go through the gate -- if closed, punch in the posted code at the gate -- and then proceed to our Bed & Breakfast Inn. Stop near the entrance of the first building to check in and unload. After that, park facing our two-story green barn.

We look forward to hosting you at the Mango Sunset Bed & Breakfast Inn in beautiful Kona, Hawaii.  Aloha and Mahalo!
